Captain's Log, Stardate:68079.51.
We have been laid over at Starbase Sierra 19 where we took some new crew members on. I feel as if I have some good, qualified people on the ship nd I was pleased with how they all came together.
Now, they are going to have to learn to coalesce as a team a little faster. Admiral Helm of SFC has dispatched us back to sector 714.
The exact logistics of the situation Will not be known until we reach the vicinity.
I am confident that the Kzinti pose little or no threat to Polaris, but still, I am concerned.
Dr McCoy has had dealings with this race in the past, so I will enlist his counsel in this matter.

Captain's Log:Stardate: 68098.99.
We have made our way to sector 714 very quickly, the QSD is in good working order and was very successful.
We encountered what appears to be a new Kzinti warship. Our long range scans have revealed that have been at the abandoned starbase.
Sensors showed that they had absconded with a transwarp core. Due to the nature of the Kzinti sheilds, we were able to recover it with the engineering transporter.
While we have recovered our equipment, which had to be taken back, we now face another dilemma.
According to available Data on the Kzinti, The Captain's bringing home the core would have made him a hero in their culture. Now that we have taken the core back, we will have no choice but to combat and destroy the Kzinti ship. They are in violation of our territory, as well as the treaty of Sirius.
Now that we are sure the Kzinti are once again taking an aggressive stance, we must ascertain exactly how much of a threat they are at this time and what their plans are.

Captain's Log: Stardate: 61610.4
We have managed to recover the Slipstream core from the Kzinti ship. I believe that it was a risky maneuver, but my new Chief Engineer, Lt. Kitona executed it well. It had been my hope to attempt to retrieve the item by more peaceful means, but upon further study of the Kzinti I realize that may not be possible. While we are not to start any interstellar incidents, we cannot let this ship return home. Since we have recovered the stolen material, The Captain of that ship would face dishonor if he were to return home having failed his mission. This Captain now, according to his culture must fight me and either destroy us, or die in the attempt. I have formulated a plan that may solve this better than just destroying their ship outright.
Another thing that makes this sector a sensitive area, Is the star system of Beta Taranaga. Beta T. is a class M planet with a humanoid civilization. This world has recently settled into a unified, one world government and they have not had a war on their planet in over 30 years. That last long range survey revealed that this planet is just on the brink of discovering warp drive. We've been watching this world for some time now and Starfleet feels that Beta T. will make a fine addition to the Federation. We cannot allow the Kzinti, or other aggressive races like them bully planets like this before they have a chance to develop.

Captain's Log: Stardate: 61627.6
We have succeeded in stopping the Kzinti Armada by using the QSD. The quantum slipstream, due to the nature of the drive, it cannot be used in close proximity of other ships. This was an extremely risky maneuver, but as a great Starship Captain once said: "Risk is part of the game, You wannna sit in that chair..?" Upon sending my report to Admiral Helm, I have recommended commendations for my crew for being on their toes during this operation. I have also been authorized to initiate first contact with Beta Taranaga. They have just initiated their first warp capable spacecraft launch. The first contact is a very delicate thing in this case. We have learned in situations like this, that it is better if we contact a society when they are just on the verge of warp dive. In this case, Beta T. has made a launch a little sooner than we expected. We will therefore make contact with the Astronauts on this ship. It is not our intention to frighten these people, So we will take a runabout out to meet the ship, and hopefully have first contact on the runabout, assuming the Astronauts will agree to come aboard and speak to us. Astronaut is an ancient Earth term meaning "Star Voyager" It was used as the term for early space explorers on Earth. Since Beta T's warp program is just beginning, I felt the term applicable in this case. I can only think of all of the brave men and women from the various worlds of the Federation who were historical figures on their home worlds. The first pioneers to leave their planet's orbit. Many of these early explorers gave their lives, and many knew that they would not be the ones to have a first contact, but knew that the work they were doing would pave the way for the next generation, and for those who would eventually meet people from other worlds. Let us never forget the sacrifices these people made so that we can have the things we take for granted here in the 24th century.

Personal Log: Stardate:61640.4 A Federation Envoy has been dispatched to Beta Taranaga. We have established first contact successfully with a planet that is well developed socially and intellectually. I have done my part. I am an engineer, Not a diplomat. A ranking Starfleet Admiral and an Ambassador are on the way with escorts. Due to the recent situation, we felt we should remain in the general area until the Envoy arrives. The nature of our next mission is somewhat personal. In several days, it will be Captain Montgomery Scott's birthday. This man is not only an Icon in Starfleet engineering, but has been somewhat of an intellectual Grandfather to me. As a Cadet, I met Capt. Scott attending his lecture on proper warp geometry and starship design. I remember being in awe of the man. Introduced myself to him, telling him where I was from. He had been to my planet back in 2269. It was then that he and his Commanding officer, James T. Kirk, along with the original Leonard McCoy and Commander Spock, changed the face of my planet, setting in motion a new era of equality for my people, known on Ardana as Troglytes. Dr. McCoy discovered that Zenite, in its raw state, emits a colorless, odorless gas that affects the synapses of the brain. Dr McCoy designed a filter mask for us. Scotty manufactured the first run on the old Enterprise. When I told Mr Scott that I owned one of the original filter masks that he made, He was delighted. For him to see a Troglyte like myself becoming a starfleet engineer represented the fruition of the work he and his commanding officers and crew did back in those days. Upon Scotty's retirement, the USS Jenolan was lost with all hands including Scotty, until about 75 years later when the she was found by the Enterprise-D. The ship was trapped by the gravitational force of a Dyson sphere. Scotty had put himself inside the transporter, leaving it set on diagnostic mode to reduce pattern degradation. He then crossed into our Era. Due to this mishap, Scotty has been forced to live in a Federation where all around him has changed. Most everyone he has ever known and loved is gone. I know that if he had one wish, it would be to have his old ship back. He had served on the Constitution class Enterprise in one form or another for over 30 years. I cannot, of course, give him the Enterprise back. No one can. But I can do the next best thing. Upon a recent conversation with my former Commanding Officer, Capt. Mark Danrea, Mark had given me the location of a ship that he had kept hidden away. He has agreed to let me have the ship to give to Mr Scott for his birthday. It is a ship that has been presumed lost. The Constitution class Starships, once the backbone of Starfleet, are presumed extinct except for the prototypes in the fleet museum. This ship I speak of is the USS Republic. We will proceed to the Proxima Centauri space port and fleet yards where she has been hidden for Capt. Danrea. We will than take Republic in tow to Utopia Planetia Where Scotty is now residing and working.

Captain's Log: Stardate 61671.4.
We have reached to Proxima Centauri shipyards To locate the USS Republic. We are planning to take her in tow to Utopia Planetia where we will present her to Captain Montgomery Scott. Upon finding the ship, We have discovered life form readings aboard her. I am sending out an away team to investigate. Sensors show that only the Executive quarter deck had power run to it. The Impulse fusion core is activated, but at a very nominal level. The small ship that is docked with Republic appears to have suffered damage, and very little onboard Weaponry to speak of. I am confident that Commander Rivers and the AT will solve the mystery without incident. I don't want that ship damaged.

Captain's Log: Stardate:61684.7
We have taken the USS Republic in Tow. The small ship used by our surprise guests has been brought into the hangar bay. Our Guests have been given spacious quarters but are confined there. Additional guards are posted and security measures taken. Admiral Helm has informed me that Fleet Command has dispatched a transport ship, the USS Hondo to pick them up and take them back to Starbase one as we head for Utopia Planetia. Now, another Mystery has come up. We are being shadowed by another ship. Sensors don't show evidence of a cloak, but is running along though patches of hydrogen and gaseous clouds to keep us from getting a positive ID. We are currently running under Yellow alert, and I plan to hail the ship if nothing happens soon.

Captain's Log: Stardate:61708.3. We are currently in a very precarious situation. The ship that has been Shadowing us, Is the USS Hades, A Prometheus class battle ship. Her Captain, Charlie Ramirez, was the man who asked me to join Red Squad as a Cadet. I turned him down. He wasn't happy about that at the time, and made a racial comment toward my people. The Troglytes of Ardana are a proud people. After he made his comment, I proceeded to knock him, and two of his friends on their wallets before they could remember what the whole thing was about. I believe that he harbors strong resentment against me. I believe that this is part of what's behind this, but I have my other suspicions as well. In fact, I think I know exactly what this is about. The Hades has attempted to send an invasive program into the Polaris. Our firewalls are holding, but we are in a deadlock. We cannot contact the computer, and all of our control panels are currently frozen. Polaris has a fail-safe system that is designed for emergencies just like this. My biggest concern is not getting out of it, but in how well the crew follows directions. In order for this to come off safely, we must all work as a team and take direction. If someone decides to take matters into their own hands and be a hero, the results could be disastrous. Captain Ramirez is about to send a boarding party over for the refugees. I consider this a hostile attack on my ship and I will deal with this situation as I see fit. This man is what the Klingons would call a "PetaQ".

Captain's Log: Stardate 61718.9.
I have never before had to lwer a member of my crew in rank, but I was left with no choice.
LtJG Kitona has blatantly disobeyed orders, and now claims that she was working in secret with a Starfleet Intel Admiral.
I can only find this fact very disturbing. My XO, and my SO both felt that leniency was the way to go, so I went along with their decision. I took her officer's commision away, giving her the rank of Spec4.
I could have been much more severe, but I made mistakes myself and I was given another chance.
The fact of the matter is, She initiated transport during warp, which, in my opinion endangered the ship. I understand that she claims to have been saving the life of this operative, but at the same time risked the ship. I don't see that as a fair exchange.
Chif Spec Kitona will be under security alert 5. all her personal communication are to be screened and monitored.

Captain's Log: Stardate:61729.8.
Finally, we are heading in to utopia Planetia. It just so happened that the Galaxy class USS Republic was in sector 001. They have brought Admiral Helm out to meet us for the upcoming Party, and are escorting us in.
I very much look forward to the festivities, especially when we "Unveil" the ship.
There will also be some less pleasant things. I must discuss with the Admiral the possibility that espionage is at play aboard my ship. This I have no tolerance for. I believe there is a connection between Red Squad and Section 31. The section is recruiting them and making promises to them. These young, impressionable officers and Cadets have no Idea that they are being used like expendable toys.
Upon reviewing security Data with Mr Ramius, It seems that when we beamed that boarding party to the cargo bay for holding, they were not even heading for the refugees. They were making their way to the computer core. This gives me an uneasy feeling.

Personal Log.
I never liked Red Squad. I turned them down as a Cadet. Charlie Ramirez never forgave me for that.
Whe I was a Cadet, they used come in to the lounges, throwing their weight around, bullying others, and making it clear that they were "better" than everyone because they're Red Squad. The Elite. The best of the best.
I realize that it is due to my own planet's heritage that I detest this kind of attitude. But as a Starfleet officer, i cannot allow myself to let my passions rule me.

Captain's Log; Stardate: 61749.3 After dropping the USS Republic off at Utopia Planetia. where it will be safe until Mr. Scott can start going over the ship, we are now heading over to Earth. I intend to get to the bottom of this Espionage business. I won't have it on my ship. I intend to find out the truth about Admiral Stevens. Engineer Kitona has agreed to help, along with Admiral Helm. In the mean time, Mr Scott has asked to stay with us on board Polaris. I don't really want him involved in theis, but his name certainly pulls enough weight with SFC that no one is going to stand up to him. Hopefully, it won't come to that. I'm very happy about seeing Mr Scott and Dr Mccoy together again. The re-bonding experience has done wonders for them both. Dr McCoy is not just an EMH. He is a man, and we're very fortunate to have him with us. My other concern, with all that has ahappened, is leaving my ship, but I have activated a contingency plan that I have discussed with no one. If the section, or anyone tries to board this ship in our absence, they will have a very unfortunate experience.

Captain's Log: Stardate:61769.3.
We are taking some shore leave on Earth. We will also be confronting Admiral Stevens in an attempt to get to the bottom of this little mystery. In light of the recent security situation, Admiral Helm has strongly urged me to take a squad of marines onto the ship. I had been against having Marines, but I am inclined to agree with the admiral. Once we head for deep space, we will need to be prepared for any contingency. I have decided to become less stringent in that respect. I hope to finish this business quickly and take care of some other things while on Earth. This is not my home planet, but there is someone here I consider Family.

Captain's Log: Stardate:61786.9. Shoreleave is now behind us. I hope that everyone onboard had a chance to enjoy themselves. We are currently underway with systems at optimum efficiency. We have picked up a distress call from a vessel. We have not as of yet identified the sender of the call, but we are bringing up full communications and scanning facilities, and have plotted an intercept course. We will know the nature of the call shortly and are going on at Yellow alert. I have also recently found out that Lt MacLeod is going to take some time on Outpost Sierra One where his two sons are stationed, as well as two new Grand children He has yet to meet. Lt Murasaki will take over Helm until Lt MacLeod returns to full duty.

Captain's Log: Stardate: 61806.7. We have responded to a distress call from an Antican Freighter. Sht ship was attacked by some sort of Marauder vessel. We are currently in pursuit of the vessel, but have yet to identify it. We hope to overtake the ship and find out what the attack was about. We also need to find out what the Antecans are carrying. It may be something valuable, or it could just be trade goods. The Anticans are a relatively new race to the Federation. They are canine-like in appearance, and prefer to kill their own food and eat it fresh.
They have worked very hard to make peace with a neighboring race, The Selay. These two races have feuded for many years. Though the two worlds have made peace, There are always those who prefer war. It is my intention to resolve this without having to do battle, or cause bloodshed.

Captain's Log: Stardate: 61825.8. It appears we have a little mystery to unravel. We had responded to a distress call from an Antican freighter that was under attack. The attacking vessel showed as Selay. It had appeared that these two races, both new additions to the Federation have again began their quarrel that Federation ambassadors had worked so hard to put to an end. Upon further scans, Chief science officer Mellisari Was able to determine that the attacking ship was diguising its power signature to read Selay. It turned out to be an Yridian ship. We disarmed the ship, and took out her propulsion as well. They did not respond to Chief Khambatti's hails. Minutes later, an Orion cruiser appeared asking to take the Yridian ship, but provided us with no information or explanation for this attack. I refused to release it to him. The Orion Captain has threatened to fire on the Polaris. That part is the least worrisome. His ship is no match for Polaris. I intend to find out what is in the cargo hold of this Orion ship. Hopefully, that will lend some insight into what this is all about. If I cannot resolve this here, I will have no choice but to disable the Orion ship and tow her to the nearest starbase where her Captain and crew will be taken into custody and stand trial.

Personal Log: I realize that confronting an Orion trader must be having an emotional effect on Lt Mellisari. She spent many years in the pens of Orion slavers until she was rescued and given her freedom. I have never harbored any ill feelings toward her. Quite the opposite if any. I have, however, had my own experiences with Orion traders and raiders. As a Cadet, I had been given a special course of training. Captain Picard had recovered his old ship, the Stargazer. As an engineering project, we were to restore her for the fleet museum. I rebuilt the warpcoils, refitted and updated the entire structural integrity grid myself, as well as help build a new warp core for her. We made her better than new. She then became our training vessel. On one mission, we came under attack by orions. They saw us as a lesser Starfleet vessel, and a source of maerials and supplies they could get from us. We were boarded. We fought feverishly hard aganst them and eventually stopped them. But not soon enough. I was running down one of the corridors to lend backup to some of the other Cadets who were cornered. When I reached the location, I came upon the body of my best friend, Barry Martak. Barry was quite a popular Cadet. he took me under his wing from the tme I arrived in San Francisco. He taught me about Terran culture. Being the first Troglyte in Starfleet, I needed to learn how to socialize properly. He even taught me how to play ancient Terran music. We had formed what they used to call a "Rock Band" in 20th century Earth, Much to the chagrin of the Commandant of the Academy. Barry insisted on using ancient audio equipment to recreate the "Authentic sound" of the time period. Noise was a factor. Finding him dead like that filled me with rage. A moment later, The Orion who killed him confronted me. He was a good bit larger than I was, but nevertheless, I challenged him to unarmed combat. He accepted. He was larger and stronger than me, but he was slow, and I was a martial arts champion starting at age 12. I remember how the only thing I could think of, were the most brutal techniques my Sensei taught me. I jumped, grabbing his head while spinning in the air, and twisted his neck, and broke it. Another Starship had arrived, running off the Raider vessel and sending an emergency team over to Stargazer. I didn't Let anyone touch Barry's body. I carried him myself to sickbay where his body was put in stasis until I could bring it home to his family. I will never forget that day. I often awaken in a cold sweat in the middle of the night thinking about it. It is important now, more than ever to realize that while i am not human, But Ardanan, we have our own codes of honor and vengeance. As a Starfleet officer, I have to keep in mind that a race is not responsible for the actions of only one, or few, and that an individual cannot be judged simply because of his/her race. I think that I will discuss this with Dr McCoy, and I would also like to tell this story to my Science officer. I cannot allow personal feelings or vendettas cloud my judgement and objectivity as a Commanding officer. It is important that the crew understand this as well.

Captain's Log, Stardate 61844.5. This whole episode seems to get better and better. First, I thought all we had to deal with was the Orion. Now we have a Romulan Warbird staring us down. Chief Khambatti reports that the cloak being used is auto- modulating its resonant harmonics. Once he can match the modulation algorhythm, it shouldn't be too hard to find them if they go under cloak. I am confident that Amir and Mel can take care of that. What puzzles me is, what are they hiding, and is it worth causing an interstellar incident over? They are in Federation territory and have already attacked one ship. We are prepared to take the ship into battle. But first I will attempt a peaceful resolution. I am putting all decks on security alert and implementing safety protocols to get civilians and all non-essential personnel to the safety areas of the ship.

Commanding Officer's Log, Stardate: 618784.7 Once again, I am surrounded by incompetence. I send someone to do a simple thing, and even that is too difficult. We had commandeered an Antican Freighter. Disgusting beings. And vegetarians! The only thing that kept me from just blowing it into space dust was the fact that Khambatti scanned their Plasma reactor. the Plasma appeared very pure. I sent my engineer to check that out and she evidently could not comprehend that. She is not herself. There is something different about her. The science officer and Khambatti have a theory. I will hear what they have to say. I hate to kill a good engineer.
