I felt rather hurt when he just got up and left. I left Starfleet cause of it. I'm not ready to go back yet. I'm sorry. I will see what this ship has to offer then go from there. I'll take things slow. Now I know why Starfleet frowns on the fact of relationships on the ship.

Of course you felt hurt, Sool, Who wouldn't? ::Amir replied::
Anyone who acts like that, and many people do, desn't deserve to have command of a ship. What he did was the actions of a coward. I sure as hell wouldn't want to serve under a Captain like that.
There's no rule against relationship in Starfleet. As long as it doesn't affect one's duties.
BUt I also know how you feel. I used to be quite a "woman chaser" especially back home, and at the academy.
When I got back to the Numeria, and Sharazza was gone, I just stopped with all that. Right now, it just doesn't 'feel' right to me. BUt just being around friends who I can talk to is enough right now.

This guy had his share of chasing women. He really hurt me bad. I don't want to be serving under another Captain anymore. I just want my simple life which is what I got.

It's Ok, Sool. You don;t have to do anything youdon't want. I'm just sorry you have to blame good men for the things that bad men have done. I'll let the Captain know you're not interested in helping out.
He just wanted you to feel like a part of things. He cares about everyone on this ship. Don't worry, I won't tell him your reasons. The Captain isn't Human, you know. His people have a very high code of honor.
I thought it would be nice to have you help out, too. I'll volunteer for the duty myself. I don't know near as much about kids as you do, but I'll do my best.
::He scooped up Spartacus and headed for the door.::
I better go tell him before he makes any plans for you. I have to get back to engineering anyway.
::Amir left the arboretum. He felt sad that the Captain, one of the most honorable men he'd ever met was being blamed for what some poor excuse of a Captain did.::

She sighs seeing how Amir is reacting. Sis go back to the quarters and stay there you caused enough trouble. I'll be lucky if I still got a job on this ship cause of you. She takes Lenmana towards the door. Go home and don't return. EVER! She steps out the door. Stay away from us. She heads to her quarters.

::Shian was still pondering the thought of a dog being in the arboretum when they walked in. But once the environment hit her and she looked around, she was amazed. She stood still in her tracks.::
Brock... It's so beautiful.
::Her words were breathy and low.::
::She didn't even notice the doors sliding shut behind them as she continued to glance around the most wonderful looking arboretum she'd ever seen on a ship.::
This is just... amazing.
::She let go of his arm and slowly took a few steps forward, into the greenery and flora.::
::There were all sorts of plants and flowers, and, somewhere, she could hear water. The air was infused with moisture. It smelled thick of botanical growth.::
::She could see how this could easily become her favorite place on the ship.::

::He was happy to see Shian's reaction to the place. It was a place of meditative relaxation. Now it could be one for her, as well.::
This isn't just The Arboretum, Shian. this is Our Arboretum. I'm glad you like it.
::He led her to a little area where people could sit. The doors slid open, in came someone from the kitchen with what looked like an old fashioned picnic basket.
The crewman left it near them, smiles and headed out.::
Looks like lunch is served.
::He motioned for her to come sit by him, as he began to empty the contents of the basket.::

::She turned back to him and smiled.::
Like it? Oh, Brock... I love it.
::She rolled the term over in her mind. "Our arboretum". This would be a place on the ship that was their special spot.::
::She saw the crewman come in with the basket and then leave again.::
How did you... When did you order all the food up?
::She went back over to him and wrapped her arms around his arm.::
How about you take me on a tour of this beautiful paradise before we eat?
::She leaned her head up against his shoulder. After everything she'd been through, this was a very refreshing change of venue. She didn't even feel the exhaustion any more.::
::It was almost as if the arboretum itself was rejuvenating her, giving her courage, helping her to push away all the issues within her for a little while.::

::It had been so long since they had just had a nice simple time together like this.
When she had first come on board, he had no idea how long it would take. He would have stood by her, no mater how long, but he could see her growing. Getting her "legs back" so to speak.::
Isn't this wonderful? I think we both needed a little R&R. I know I did. I guess stopping a war takes more out of you that you think.
::He smiled::
As far as the picnic basket, I'm afraid I have to attribute some of that idea to Mamasan. She was "On standby alert" ::Laughs::
::He fed her a piece of fruit, then kissed her, tasting the sweet nectar on her lips::

::The kiss took her by mild surprise. It was the first real kiss they'd had since she arrived. It also scared her a little. She tried not to back away from it. The kiss broke and she looked down, momentarily, before she looked back up into his eyes.::
::She could feel the emotional well surging again, threatening to bring tears to her eyes. She fought it, and began trying to find that solace she'd felt just a few moments ago.::
That was nice. Thank you. I do love you.
::She blushed a little.::
Show me around?
::She couldn't decide if she was ready for the intimacy yet. She wanted some time with him first. Time, perhaps, to acclimate herself to really being with him. And as much as she wanted to feel that closeness, her nerve wasn't ready.::

Show you around? Well most of it is in plain sight. Let's take a little walk around. The waterfall is one of my favorite thngs here.
::They began to walk the perimeter of the place.::
Over here, is where McCoy ususally sits. He comes in here and tells stories to the children, and tells them a little about how life on Starships has changed over the years. The kids love him.
There are a number of families on the ship. Scientists, Even some of the officers.
I sometimes come in here and talk to the children when I can. I taught them some songs, and sometimes I come in, and they sing with me a little.
::He smiled to her, putting a finger to his lips to stay quiet, then pointed into the bushes where Spartacus was sleeping.::

::Shian walked with Brock, looking where he indicated. She imagined Dr. McCoy, sitting there with a group of children gathered around him, telling them a story of the old Enterprise, or maybe one of their adventures.::
::Then, she imagined Brock there with a group of children. He'd be playing his guitar, singing a song to them, teaching them to sing it along with him.::
::It made her smile. She'd never thought about Brock around children before. They'd never mentioned children in their conversations that she could remember. But it was good to know that he enjoyed being around them. It was also good to know that there were families on board the ship. Though in times of battle, she couldn't imagine having to maintain their safety while dealing with the aggressions. She knew it must be one of the more difficult things to consider as a commanding officer.::
::She then looked to where Brock pointed with a silent motion. There, nestled beneath some shrubs, was a pug. She smiled again, watching him sleep, just as he must have been dreaming of chasing something. His leg muscles were twitching.::
How adorable. ::She tried to whisper so as not to disrupt Spartacus' dream.::
::Backing away from where he was, she turned to Brock, still amazed at how the arboretum was set up.::
You've done such a beautiful job, Brock. This place is truly amazing.
There's so many different varieties of plants here. And the waterfall is a wonderful touch.
::She started walking back to where the basket was. She picked up and ate a piece of fruit, giving her a moment to gather herself.::
::She sat down on a stone bench that was there, motioning for her husband to sit next to her.::
Brock, I want you to know... I never meant to hurt you. I wouldn't ever want to. But, I'm still afraid. Afraid of hurting you, because of what happened.
::She took a breath.::
The Doctor says that I'll get over it, and somewhere, I know I can, too. Right now, it's just not quite gone, that feeling, that fear.
::She looked into his eyes, searching for that understanding. Then, she took his face gently in her hands, leaned in, and pressed her lips to his. This time, the kiss was in her control, and it felt better to her, more natural.::
::It wasn't that she didn't like his kiss before, but it wasn't something she was prepared for. This time, she was prepared. And she'd missed this. She missed the intimacy, she missed the kisses, she missed the love she felt when she was with him.::

::When she kissed him like that, He rememberd just how much he missed her. Just how empty he had felt with her not around.
Her kiss filled him a warmth he hadn't known in some time.::
I've dreamed of the day I could show this place to you. Everytime I came in here, I imagined you walking with me and enjoying the fresh natural air.
ANd now here we are. I feel like things are becoming more complete every day.
As far as the dreams, and the fear, I know you still have that, but I see you growing out of it more each day.
I know you would never hurt me. Those thoughts were not yours. You're not responsible for them.
::He sat down again with her by the picnic basket.::
Of course, if you're that concerned about it, I can post a guard in our bedroom just to be safe. ::Laughs::
::The laugh was all it took. A rustle in the bushes followed by Spartacus darting out across the grass heading for the 2 of them.::
Incoming! Brace for impact!
::Brock couldn't help but laugh whenever he saw the loveable little scamp running with his tongue hanging out like he did.
He leaped ojto Brock's lap kissing him, then sqirming when Brock tried to hold on to him. He scratched the dog's head, then held him so he could sniff Shian, and she could pet him if she wanted.::
::As if that weren't enough excitement, the doors opened again. A small group of Children form different races began to quietly slip into the room.
One of the little girls shyly waved to Brock, but they kept their distance.::

::Shian had to give a chuckle at his thought of posting guards in their bedroom. It lightened the mood for her. He always had a way of doing that. That was one of the areas where he was her balance. His more joking nature easily balanced out her more serious nature. He reminded her to laugh more, to enjoy life more.::
::She jumped a little as Spartacus ran up and landed on Brock's lap. She ended up laughing, watching the little pup's antics. It was a truly free moment for her. She had no other cares in the world right then. She reached over, petting Spartacus on his head, letting him smell her, letting him lick her hand.::
Oh, how cute you are. ::She fussed over the pug pup.::
::He worked his way loose from Brock's grip and began rooting around, sniffing his way to the picnic basket.::
::Shian pulled it out of his reach and kept her arm over it.::
That's not for you, little puppy.
::She looked over as she heard the doors just then, watching the children come in.::
::She smiled to them, noting the one that waved to her husband.::
You must have made an impression on that young lady, Captain.
::She was still smiling as she turned to Brock. This was the most at ease she'd felt since she'd been on Polaris. But she didn't know if it was due to Brock, the arboretum, the dog, or the children. Or maybe it was a combination of all of them. She just knew that no one else could make her feel the way she did when she was with Brock.::
::She looked back to the children, some of who were looking around the waterfall, some of who were just standing a little ways away, looking at her and Brock.::
::She waved to them. Then she lowered her voice so that they wouldn't hear her.::
So, what are they all doing here without any supervision? It can't be a school tour.
::She waited to hear what he would say in response.::

::It made him happy to Shian enjoying herself. he so wanted her to begin to feel like she could laugh and enjoy herself again. He silently thanked his Gods for helping her to have a moment of pure joy and child like jubilation.::
Um, well, they're not exaclty unsupervised. Their class comes here sometimes to do independent projects when they study Botany. They're very well behaved children. The teacher's aide will be along in a minute.
::The liitle girl who appeared to be the "Ring leader" of the bunch, slowly and nervously approached Brock and Shian.::
"Hi, Captain Dantara" She said, smiling, and wringing her hands.::
Hello, Rosie! ::Brock said:: How are you? ::He referred to Shian.:: Rosie, this is Mrs Dantara.
"Pleased to meet you, Mrs Dantara" She smiled, then looked to Brock
"Captain can we? Please?"
::She looked so excited Brock found it hard to say no, hoping Shian wouldn't mind::
Honey, this is Rosie Rodruguez. her Mother's a stellar cartographer. Rosie is a big help on the ship.
Rosie, ::Brock continued:: Go get ready and let me talk to Mrs Dantara for a minute.
"Yes, Sir" She scurried off to the other children, with Spartacus following her.
Honey, ::He turned back to Shian:: I taught the kids a song a while back. When they heard you were on board, They asked me if they could sing it for you. I hope you don't mind.

::Shian smiled to the girl, nodding as they were introduced.::
I'm honored to meet you, Rosie.
::She watched as the girl asked Brock about something, then, upon hearing his explanation, she blushed a little.::
::She wasn't aware that the children on the ship would even know or care who she was. She was quite humbled by this news.::
::She smiled more, watching the pug chasing the girl back to the other children. Pets and children were apparently very therapeutic for her right now.::
I... I'm flattered. Of course I don't mind. I'd love to hear the children sing.
::She had no idea that her husband had such a rapport with children, but clearly he enjoyed having them around him.::

::He kissed Shian on the cheek as he got up and went over to the children.
They had his guitar ready and handed it to him. He sat down as the children ast around him.::"Captain," Rosie said, "I have the screen ready for the visual part, Sir"Good job, Rosie, ::Brock replied, smiling.::::They all fell silent as Brock began to play and they waited for their que's.
The screen nearby came to life.::

Sar would sneak in and watch from the back as the Captain was singing to the kids and his wife she smiled. As she looks at the kids. She was gonna have one soon so she thought it would be nice to see how the kids play she she might have a better time being a mom. She would wave to Shian and the Captain as she watches them. She claps her hands when the song was done.

::Shian watched as Brock joined the children, wondering what they were up to. As she looked at them, the screen, and her husband with his guitar, she couldn't help but feel that he'd planned this.::
::She smirked a bit, but the smirk turned to awe as she watched the screen begin to show images and the music started.::
::As her husband and the children sang and she saw the screen's video, she couldn't help but grin. She also couldn't help the tears that came to her eyes. They weren't the same as the tears she shed earlier. These were not tears of fear, trepidation, and torment. These were tears of genuine joy and happiness. Tears of love.::
::When the performance ended, Shian got to her feet, and rushed up to Brock. He barely had time to hand the guitar off to one of the kids when she threw her arms around him. She kissed his lips, then his cheek, hugging him tightly.::
That was so beautiful. You did that for me?
::She remained like that for another moment before releasing him and giving him another kiss.::
::Then she smiled to the children, who had been watching them.::
And you were all wonderful. You must have worked hard on it. Thank you for performing this for me. It's a very special welcome.
::She looked around briefly and saw that there was someone else in the arboretum. Ms. Kushani, the Chief of Security, if she recalled correctly. She gave Sara a small wave and a smile, then returned her attention to Brock. She still had a few tears in her eyes.::
I can't believe you did all this.
::She couldn't stop smiling.::

::Brock watched Shian rush up to him as he handed the guitar to Rosie. When she grabbed him, and held him, He kissed her back, and could feel the warm tears of joy that were coming from her.
He stod there, holding her, feeling the power of her love. A power he had missed for so long.
He silently rejoiced on her tears, because these tears would wash the poison from her mind. Her love was stronger than her fear, or anything they could have done to her.
Brock even shed a little tear himself, Then looked at her.::
I planned this before I even knew that you would be coming back. The song was my beacon to you. For some odd reason, I felt that if I kept winging it, you'd eventually hear it and make your way toward me. At least that's what an old wiseman told me.
The Children's love, as they sang the song would act as a conduit, a carrier wave to take the song to you, and show you the way home. I think it worked .
::He nodded on the Direction of the children for Shian to turn and look.
They all stood together, holding a banner that said:::
"Welcome home, Mrs Dantara."
::As she read the banner, the children spoke the words to her, all smiling.::
I don't suppose I get an encore, do I? Something they don't know yet, and one I never played for you.
