Oota, ::Brock began:: Amir and Amirah are right. As Captain of this ship, The children aboard her are my charge and responsibilty. That means I'm every bit as responsible for the welfare of your child as you are, as long as you're on the ship.
Leaving the Child unsupervised is not, in my opinion the best for her. You can't leave her alone. Oota, that whole area of the ship is durrounded by a security field at the first hint of trouble. There are also regular security patrols on that deck on a constant basis.
I put those conditions in place because I believe the safety of the children on this ship are of Paramount importance.
Now, if you;re that concerned, why don't you just go thee and talk to the staff yourself. It's not only the most heavily shielded area of the ship as Amir pointed out, But in a emergency, The children are the first ones off the ship.::He took his first officer aside.:: Christina, ::He spoke softly::. Would you please try to find out what's behind this fear of hers? Maybe Regal can help too. She seems to like McCoy also. Maybe you can get Jemma to talk to her. I will try and figure out what is going on with her but I am not promising results. Conner might be able to help I don't know he's been more quite these days. I will talk to the other two though and see if either one of us three can get behind what is bothering her and try and resolve it. She still had the sleepy baby in her arms, and then went walking around the lounge some more so not make the Captain's movement with her off to one side so obvious before coming back to the table noticing the new tac/sec officer that came in. The Captain spoke to him and she just smiled at him as she rocked the little one.

He would lift his saled and his drink and would walk over to where the Captain and the others where at.. Sitting down, as he would pull back out the padd and would start looking it over again.. He would listen to what the others where talking about.. eating some of his saled and taking a drink of the water.

Glad to have you on the ship, Ryan. We need a good security and TAC officer.
As I Announced to the crew, Ryan, Mr McCleod has extensive advanced Marine hand to hand training. I got some at the academy as well. I know you've had extensive trainingin combat, and non energy weapons, so I'd like the three of us to get to gether and coordinate classes. I want everyone te be prepared for anything.
Once we're finished assignment in the alpha quadrant, as the fleet gets more ships out, we plan to head into the Delta quadrant and have a little look there.

A nod of his head was given, as the captain did the talking. " Well That is very true Sir.. But I also had more traning before that as well. My dad and parents wanted me to be aboul to fight in any type of invirement.. Zero G fighting is the best I will have to say."
Taking another sip of the drink and would finish off his saled..

::Brock nodded as he ate. With all that had been going on, He did'nt realize he had been so hungry.::
Excellent, Ryan. Maybe you'd like to teach a class on that?
Also, since your'e chief of security, I'd like you to begin evaluating the combat effectiveness of you entire staff. Steven will help you.
Mr McLeod feels that we may be lacking in that area. I'd like the two of you to organize classes. We'll start with security.
I'd like to give a class on blade weapons for those who want to pursue that.
I'm not trying to turn us into a Klingon ship, But when I was the Chief Engineer on Concord, I kep a box of swors and shuriken in the engine room. If we were boarded and the enemy had somekind of dampening field that nullified Phasers, I made sure I had something they couldn;t nulify with technology.
It would be a cold day in hell before anyone messed with my engines. ::Grinned.::

A nod of his head was given." bladed weapons are always the best in any tips of combat Sir."
Taking a sip of his water " There are many things that i have learned. Some may say we no longer need..I can teach the crew how to us just about anything around as a weapon" looking about at the others

She slowly gets up from the table. She walks over to Christina slowly. I'll take her now. She holds her arms out to take her baby back. She sighs a bit. I'll give it some thought. She speaks softly.

She sighs a bit. Then nods her head to the new comer who entered the lounge. It'll never change. She speaks about Oota. I'm sorry Captain. What exactly does the Prime Directive mean? She wanted to know in his own terms.

::Smiles:: Did you sleep through that class at the academy?
Alright, by the book.
1, the Prime Directive is the most important law in Starfleet. Violation of the Directive is generally considered a felony offense that often carries severe punishment unless sufficient justification can be made for the violation.
The Directive states that members of Starfleet are not to interfere in the internal affairs of another species, especially the natural development of pre-warp civilizations, either by direct intervention, or technological revelation. When studying a planet's civilization, particularly during a planetary survey, the Prime Directive makes it clear that there is to be "No identification of self or mission. No interference with the social development of said planet. No references to space, other worlds, or advanced civilizations." Starfleet personnel are required to understand that allowing cultures to develop on their own is an important right and therefore must make any sacrifice to protect cultures from contamination, even at the cost of their own lives.
The Prime Directive is not enforced upon citizens of the Federation. Under the rules as defined in the Directive, a Starfleet crew is forbidden from removing citizens who have interfered with the culture of a world. Violating the directive can result in a court-martial for the offending Starfleet officer or crew
There are, of course numerous exceptions which I'm not going to list.
There is also the matter of each situation being different, having different circumstances and different consequences.
As a Commanding officer, I of course understand the need for rules and order and laws. But those laws must be always tempered with human judgement. With conscience. Rules and laws are our guide, not our God. We must never allow ourselves to become so rigid that laws are absolute.
Sometimes Justice and truth are not things that can be written down in lawbooks or directives. These are the things that keep us free, and the price of that freedom, said many times, is eternal vigilance.
Now, did I avoid that question sufficiently? ::He chuckles::

" Well that is good to here.. What all did you lern about if you do not mind me asking?
He would look to the others and would then close his eyes placing the padd down on the table he was looking at..

::Laughs at Ryan's Question:: Well, It's not something I can really demonstrate, and I doubt the Captain would want it duscussed here at the table, but it was something I tried back when the Numeria was stopped over at DS9. Right beofre the war went into full swing. Next time you're there, just ask Quark for holosuite program number 8117-C.
Where were you serving during the war, Ryan? I missed most of it becuase I "died". ::Chuckles::

A nod of his head was given.." what war are you talking about if I may ask?"
Bringing the cup of water to his lips, as he took a sip from it.. The war he was in last he lost many friends.. He him self was almost killed..
"One day when I am up that way I Shall.. How would you like to try some zero G combat at some time?"

Sure, I'll do some Zero G combat. What I mean by saying I "died" I was half joking. I got taken by the impostors and was a POW, Until some kind of covert Ops group rescued me. I was pretty lucky. Anything we can do to better prepare for an emergency, I'm all for.

Christina had handed the little one back to her mother when she heard Oota speak.
Well hopefuly they have something to say about the situation. I am sure they do. You can always come and talk to me or Dr. Conner or Dr. McCoy or any of the medical staff whenever you need to Oota. That's what we are here for is to help. It's not easy out here raising a family but you don't have to worry about doing it alone.
She smiled some and then looked over at the new Lt. when he looked at her with the same look she seen pilots give her before. It didn't bother her that he wasn't quite the warm and fuzzy type. She had been around them all so that he was expressing himself in hurnist here was to her a good thing to gage how well he was adjusting to his post and to the crew. Then she looked back at Oota to see if she would respond.

I was running low on ammo and well they hit me one to many times.. The fighter ejected me out but it took about a hour or so before the ship I was could come and get me"
He would slowly look about at the others.. His eyes did not give much away at all..
" Well Just let me know when you will like to start Zero G combat and we will get to work.. I will need to also see how my Security teams are as well and see how much work I have with that."

She takes the baby back into her arms. She smiles at Christina after what she says. Thank you, but I'm afraid you don't understand the way of life I live. It's the same as I want for my child so limited amount of technology to be around the better. My old CO who was a General understood this matter would let me take her on away missions.
