Star date 67790.1
I do not know if all my staff is here but I am. The inspection went well of the equipment. I am now being forced to say that after two solid days of looking over everything that I need to take a rest in my own sickbay. The chief nurse told me that my heart condition won't do any better if I am warn even before we go out of space dock. I can't believe I forgot about it. I'll lay down to rest for a bit but if anyone needs me I'm up in a flash ready to go. Even since the death of my wife I have been a light sleeper. I don't see this ship changing that. I'll end the log on this note. If everyone is here they are working so quite I can't tell they are. If they aren't they will be here soon. All medical equipment have been checked over by the Chief medical officer and are good to go. All supplies are full and now I'm going to lay down.

Medical Log: Stardate:61707.9. Leonard McCoy reporting.
Dr Conner and myself both checked over the refugees we found on the USS Republic. SOme of them had plasma burns and most of them had minor injuries of one sort or another. It's a small miracle these people survived in that tin can they were flying in. We've treated them and all doing well. If these people are spies, then I'm a Mugato's uncle. These are nothing more than frightened people driven from their homes. The look in their eyes was all too farmiliar.
Their physiology is compatible with human DNA. They bear no similarity whatsoever to the Impostors.
They are all resting and relaxing comfortably in quarters, and we're giving them all the food they want.
I laso have to say how nice it feels seeign the Republic. It's like a peice of home. I'm just wondering how Scotty is going to react to me. Who knows? Maybe old Spock will come to see me. Since I'm part of a computer now, he should accept me as his brother.

Medical Duty Log Stardate: 61716.3, Doctor (Lt.) Regal Conner Reporting
I was able to get some work done in sickbay in the form of taking care of minor scrapes and bruises that the crew received while taking on the Haties. However, I was called away shortly after assisting McCoy in repairing a young man's arm, to take care of the 'prisoners' that we accumulated. They were in cargo bay 2 and I had only the things inside a standard medical kit to treat anyone on the spot. Sure enough the parade of bruises and scrapes once again began and I was hard at work. Of course if McCoy could have been there I am sure I wouldn't have been so Bord. The guys and gales of that ship really believe that they were unjustly captured. Well, to each their own and since they aren't talking to me, they will have their day in the courts. I can smell it. But that is another story, I got back to sickbay at the end of rotation and began to catalog the amount of blood and guts spilled on the floor. Needless to say I say that the day wasn't as active as it could have been and consider it a relatively light duty shift.

Medical Log: Stardate:60754.3. Leonard McCoy reporting. Recording. Things have been peaceful around here. It's been wonderfu seeing Scotty again. I think it's been the best medicine for both of us. Right now, The main project is just getting Lt Ramius back in tio top shape. I'll be using the genetronic replicator to reconstruct the muscle, ligaments and cartillage. They will be installed via microtransporter.

Medical Log: Stardate: 61799.7. Leonard McCoy reporting.
The surgery on Ryan Ramius was successful. He is happily back to being good as new and is enjoing walking without a limp.
Seems the crew had a good shoreleave. I had a few cases of inebriation but nothing severe. I stayed offline and on call while everyone was ashore.

All is quiet around here. I'm expecting Lt Cheveyo back again soon so I can check up on the child. She appreared to be doing alright, but I'd like to make sure.
Sometimes I still don't understand why some of the crew feel the need to go without sleeping or eating. In an emergency, of course that's called for. But when it's not an emergency, that's when you get your rest and eat well.
If you haven't eaten or slept, you can't think at your best, and that puts the whole ship at risk.
Back when I was still a living human being, Even Jim Kirk knew the value of that. and with what we went through back in those days, he was notorious for going 30 hours straight.
Jim knew when it was time to rest most of the time. I did have to remind him from time to time, but for a Captain, it's a little different. I expect them to be obsessive about their ship.
Speaking of Captains, I know ours will be in here bofore too long. I know he has issues and things he needs to discuss.
McCoy out.

This is the duty log for this rotation for sickbay. There was a battle today or at least a minor incadent. We had people in here who were scrapted up pritty good all the way up to a few fractures. I do say thought that the crew is tough and everyone that was treated was wanting to get back on duty. Unforchanitly for some their stay in sickbay is going to be more then just a few moments. So far we have no one who has passed on because of their injuries and to me that's forchanit considering some of the more sevear cracks and breaks we got in here as a result of our adventure today. I'm just hopeing that our next mission is just as good as this one turned out to be medically.
I am sure our job is far from done as the crew always manages to find something to eat off duty that doesn't agree with one or more of them. But that is what we do. We exsplore and learn and sometimes repeat bad habbits so to possibly learn one day that particular food is not good to eat...will give heart burn. :: Laughs :: I'll end the log with the perverable old fart qout "What doesn't kill you. Makes you stronger."

Medical Log: Stardate:61860.5. Leonard McCoy reporting.
I've ben offline a good bit of the time. Dr Conner is handling things just fine and dandy in sickbay.
SOme of the crew, and a lot of the civilian children aboard have asked me to tell some stories about "The old days". I love that term. I'll be heading to the Arboretum for that.
I also plan to see the Captain. I've been around Captains and Admirals long enough to kow when a man's got Demons. We all have them. Lord knows I've seen enough of them in my day.
The Captain is a good man, but just man, like anyone else. Oota finds him a little irreproachable. I thin it best that I take care of his counseling.
We didn't have ship's counselors back in "The old days"

I think I'm beginning to make progress with Lt Shian Dantara. I've been formulating some ideas for treatment.
The problem is, The tretment itself would frighten her at this stage of her progress and I won't rush this or risk any setbacks.
I have been in contact with the Doctors on Tantalus. They are still administering therapy with the neuro-neutralizer, only it's much more advanced now, and a lot smaller.
I beginning to realize that maybe the Captain has the Impostors figured out to an extent. He says they're not really "people", but more of a humanoid virus.
Just in the way many viruses disguise themselves as other cells in the body to avoid detection, so they disguise themselves as other races. It kind of makes sense.
Their ships were essentially copies of ours or those of neighboring governments. They copied people the same way. Nothing was found showing anything pointing to their natural state.
They have a society, but no culture. No art. No Music. No Literature.
I think human emotion confounded them, and they've been trying to understand them, using people like Lt Dantara as Guinea pigs.
I also think that her condition is a form of an "Emotional virus" Something they did to see how emotions would react, or possibly what physical changes occur with what emotion.
I believe that the neuro-neutralizer would counteract what they did. But I'm going to wait and give her time to settle down and become more relaxed here on Polaris.

I am sure Command has missed my voice. I appologize for not reporting in for such a long while. I had been sick and was unable to attend to duties in medical for sometime. No it was not a regression of the implants just the old man got a flu bug and desided to ride it out the old fashioned way.
Enough about me onto my workload. I have picked up the prenatal care of Lt. Sara Kushanie as she is one of two exspecting mothers on board. I find her a very pleasent and very coperative exspecting Mother but that can change. So far, upon the first examination the baby is developing wounderfuly. The mother is also doing well. She is currently in sickbay for another round with me this will be her second trimester check up to see how the baby is doing and how she is doing as well. I do not anticipate any issues but rest assured I will make a full report on the visit to be entered into her records once it is complete. Right now I just needed to let command know I didn't die off yet.

Attending my first rotations I find myself in the midst of a funeral service for the crew of the Dominion and a race known as the Toa. It appears both parished to save the lives of the entire crew of Polaris. I was unaware of the ship being in such danger both of us should have been on duty. In part I feel my inablity to perform may have cost innocent lives. That is why from here on out I will strive to be more active and more particapatory in my duties. Not only do I have an entire ship crew to look after I also have sevearl exspecting mothers as well and their children to look after.
Speaking of that, Lt. Kushanie came to sickbay for her second prenadial exam and everything seams to be doing alright. Both her and Jr. are going along wounderfully. I don't know if it is in her person not to talk much about herself or if it is just because I am a Doctor that she clams up everytime in sickbay. Well, women are mysterious and have puzzled men for centuries I guess she is one lady I will not be able to figure out right off the bat. However, I have built up enough of a rapor with her to invite her to dinner. She seams to be thrilled about the idea as am I. It will give me a chance to perhaps figure her out more. Well, that is enough rambling for one day I'll end with this. Crew is in good health considering the circomstances.

Considering how many skirmishes we've been in, the crew is in very good shape. If anything, it's multiplying.
Lt Kitona had a baby, Lt Kushani had a baby, and now, Commander Rivers.
Well, God bless them all. We're building a nursery and a pre natal care unit right next to the Trauma center on the Medical deck.
Times like these I can only be grateful that Tribbles are anon sentient species and no Humanoid could ever be that prolific.

To say that I am humbled to be taking over the care of the crew of the Polaris from the capable minds and hands of those who had served here before me is only the tip of the iceberg. I had come on before to help out, hoping for a permanent position on this most grand of ships. News finally arrived that, indeed, Gaia has blessed me with the most prized of positions for one so tender in years. I have to be thankful my mother, whom served upon the Ressurection, instructed me well in the P's and Q's of life aboard a starship of this caliber. A thourough inspection of not only the sickbay, but of triage, trauma, the surgical suite, and of my own private quarters and office has left me with an even better idea as to how life will be for me on the Polaris. Being single, I doubt I will be troubled by the demands of a family to keep me from the urgency of the care of my new family, known as the crew. Perhaps in time, and with the kindness of Gaia, I might find someone to my liking. I do not feel the person need be of human ancestry, but have a kind heart, a quick mind, and a gentle wit about him. My beloved mate David, Gaia rest his soul, would be proud of me. He always knew I would make a good starfleet doctor. I just wish he had lived long enough to join me in the heavens. *a gentle sigh* For now, I must review all the medical records and see who is in need of physicals and updates on immunizations.

CMO's Log, Dr. Garnet Garza reporting How the bleep! did I get here? Somehow, I find myself assigned to the USS Polaris serving as CMO! This is NOT why I reinstated my commission! I was supposed to be on a research mission in the Gamma Quadrant – but my transport got me to DS9 late and the team left without me! Stranded at the station, I tried for three weeks to get my recommissioning rescinded but my pleas got tied up in the wheels of the bureaucracy.....leaving me tied to Starfleet when Captain Dantara and his ship docked. I was “referred” to him as a potential CMO and he accepted me pretty much sight unseen. This is not pleasing to me in the least. I'm not even sure of the character of this man other than Starfleet has seen fit to stick him in command of a starship! I consider myself an exobiologist first and a doctor second yet here I am in Sickbay aboard the Polaris....MY Sickbay! At least I'm told the ship is planning to head through the wormhole and the CO has promised I can continue my research while serving as CMO. Not that I really have any choice......
End Recording
CMO's Log, supplemental I've met my Head Nurse, Ginny Giordano. She seems competent enough which is more than I can say for my predecessor. SHE seems to have exited the Polaris as quickly as possible without signing off on the last months worth of reports. I am also surprised to learn that we have twin newborns on the ship. These children are hybrids that might be useful to study. I also have records that inform me that a Yuna Wynn is scheduled for an artificial insemination procedure once her hormonal treatments are complete. This is going to be....interesting. End Recording

Chief Medical Officer's Log, Dr. Garnet Garza MD recording The USS Darwin, the ship that I was supposed to be on, lies derelict in space beside the Polaris. All power appears to be off, life signs are present but faint. This concerns me even more so that it would in any situation because I have colleagues on that ship, personal acquaintances even. What has happened to the Darwin, its crew and passengers is unknown at this point and what we will find when we explore her is a total mystery. The situation is likely to come with a level of danger that I really did not expect to ever have to deal with again. But despite my protest against being shanghaied to serve as the Polaris' head doctor. I am the CMO, a highly trained medical professional and I believe I am the most qualified to transport over and assess the condition of the Darwin's crew. I must convince this Captain Dantara that it is imperative that I be included on the Away Team and be a part of the team that discovers the fate of the Darwin. Garza out

(This takes place right after the last sim of the Polaris)
Garza's scan of Dantara caused her a bit of puzzlement. These readings are not right, she thought, but I'm not quite sure what they mean. Whatever was bothering him was no garden-variety headache. She waited while the Captain lead the attack and when the crew was busy assessing the damage to the enemy she bend back low over him and whispered.
"You need to come with me to sickbay. Now.'
Brock looked at the Doctor, than around to the bridge crew. "Keep me posted on everything. Let's not get trigger happy." He turned to his Exec. "ShaIlan, you have the bridge" he stood and headed to the TL with the the Doctor. "Don't you dare tell me I have to stay for tests, Doctor. Feel fortunate I can give you this time".
Garza entered the turbolift with him silently but once the doors closed she barked "Sickbay' and then turned to face Dantara
"How about I won't tell you how to run a starship and you won't tell me how to run my sickbay?" She glared at him. "What other symptoms have you been experiencing?
"Nothing that serious until recently." He thought for a moment. "I had been having recurring dreams that.......that I had been...or was supposed to be married. That was mainly it. Since we've crossed into this space," He took a breath and wiped some sweat off his face with is hand, "It got worse. Blurred vision. Short moment of disorientation. this is not a good time for this, Doctor. I have to be on the bridge. Your records say you're good. the term "Genius" was used. I need you to start being a genius." The Lift doors opened on the medical deck.
She frowned at his characterization of her then briskly strode down the corridor and into sickbay.
"Up" She said pointing to the nearest biobed. "No one ever has time for being unwell Captain. I assure you that I will do my best to determine what's wrong with you quickly and get you back to your precious bridge as soon as it is advisable. You said you were having a recurring dream...has this been keeping you from sleeping?" She ran a scanner over his head.
"I can't say I've been sleeping normally. usually waking in a cold sweat after about 4 hours. This all started not long after.....the last time we had to use the nemesis device. I didn't make an issue out of it at the time. McCoy was leaving for the Bradbury, Our medical staff was in transition for some time.
"Hmmmm..." Garza said thoughtfully laying her instrument down and picking up a hyposyringe. 'If I weren't seeing the signs that something is wrong physically I might suggest that a counselor would be better suited for a consultation. The trouble is, even though your readings are abnormal, they are not like any disease process I have ever seen."
She stuck the syringe into his arm without warning and drew a blood sample which she then handed to Nurse Ginny.
"Run the works on it. STAT" she ordered and the nurse hurried away.
"Tell me more about how this Nemesis device works exactly?" She asked.
He sighed as he lay on the biobed. "Its unpredictable. that is why the weapon's use is highly restricted. It is a subspace weapon that essentially creates a huge quantum singularity. It could destroy that fleet, it could eat a planet. It is designated as an 'invasion only extreme'." He paused. "I hope you realize what I'm telling you is classified and can't leave this room."
Her eyes got wide as Dantara described the workings of the device. "I'm not one for idle gossip Captain, I assure you, I'll share this information with no one." She pulled a stool over and sat. "When you deployed this device...did you feel any physical effects at that point in time...."
"Well," He began, "At first I attributed them to the shock wave of the device. The dreams started...maybe a week or so later, but they weren't bothersome. McCoy didn't think anything of it at the time, however it had been growing, and this...Crossing seems to have ...inflamed it"
Nurse Ginny rushed back over and said something softly to the doctor. Garza looked up at her with annoyance on her face.
"That CAN'T be right...run them AGAIN." she turned back to Dantara. "Describe these...dreams"
Brock thought for a moment, trying to recollect what memories he had. "It was a waking dream. Shadows. And a soft voice, asking me if I wanted breakfast. I felt the warmth of a woman lying next to me. I go to pull her closer. Then she's gone and I am awake in a bed with sweaty linens. that's about it."
"And it's escalated to severe headaches and day-sweats since we came to this universe?"
"So it would seem. And it's getting harder to sleep for any length of time."
"Okay...here's what I see so far Captain. There is a disruption of your normal brainwaves, no a distortion would be a better term but I have no explanation for the anomaly. My first thought was that it was somehow linked to the activation of that device...but if so why don't I have a shipful of people complaining of the same blasted symptoms?"
"The effects are unpredictable. And remember, i am the Only Ardanan on the ship. Perhaps my species has a sensitivity to this that Terrans and other types of humans do not."
The nurse returned holding a PADD and hovered nearby as the Captain spoke, then she again whispered something to Garza who snatched the PADD from her and scrutinized it.
"You ran the tests a second time?" She questioned.
"Yes doctor, I ran them three times, just to be sure."
"Thank you" Garza said dismissing her with a short wave before she looked back over at Dantara. "Your blood...appears to be what I can only describe as being partially interphased....and as odd as that sounds, it could be an explanation for the distortion in your brainwaves too. Could this device, coupled with whatever we used to get where we are have caused such a thing to occur?"
"If we are talking about Phasing, then that could very likely. We are in an Alternate universe right now which is at a slightly different phase than our own. In addition a subspace weapon could induce or create phased particles. Their effect can depend on a myriad of conditions. Stellar gasses, gravimetric fields. So, yes, what you suggest is highly likely. Kirk's old ship once went through a phased are of space and it caused madness. McCoy used a diluted theragen derivative."
"Yes...nerve gas is my very favorite thing to go about injecting into starship captains." She said testily. "But I think I will run a few more tests before I use that if you can stand to be in sickbay for a little longer that is."
"Are you telling me that I'm in a state of phase, Doctor?"
"I'm saying that you may be slightly out-of-phase with normal space-time. I'd like to rule a few other things out and test you for chroniton particles before I make that call."
"Very well. You're the Genius"
Dr Garza picked up a triangular device and placed it on the Captain's forehead. She then made a comm call and requested the science department bring her a chroniton detector.
"You might as well take a little nap,” she told the Captain, “in fact, if you sleep it may give me useful results."
He sighed. "Just let the bridge know. Let's hope ShaIlan can keep it quiet. They seem to be distracted by something behind their lines. Let's hope it lasts."
She brought the lights down to 20% and moved to a nearby terminal to research this type of problem while she awaited the detector. She scrolled through several screens worth of information and reviewed the results of the various tests and the neural imaging scan she had just run before an ensign arrived carrying the device.
"Do you want me to do a sweep for you doc?" he asked casually.
"It's Doctor Garza and no," she said taking the detector out of his hands, "I will do it myself. You're dismissed."
He shrugged and left. It was almost superfluous to perform the scan given the rest of the results. Garza pretty much knew what it was going to show. Nevertheless, she powered it up and brought it over to the biobed where the Captain was resting....immediately the readout began to register and the device began beeping.
Brock had allowed himself to drift off, almost welcoming the momentary quiet. For a moment, he again saw the gray swirling darkness...and two grey eyes....
"Captain" Garza's voice interrupted his sleep. "Wake up." She waited for him to open his eyes.
His eyes snapped open. He sat up quickly "How long? Status report!
"Whoa whoa," She put a hand on his shoulder. "You're in sickbay captain....I've finished running my tests."
"And....?
"I've found no organic cause for your condition. However I have detected chroniton particles....in you....Now in and of themselves they are not dangerous...but I think they are a side-effect of what for lack of a better term could be called a phase-sickness."
She cut off his reply "I suppose you are going to ask what we do about this phase-sickness? And that's a very good question."
"It had crossed my mind yes"
"I'm not a temporal physicist but I believe we have little choice but to expose you to a anyon stream. from what I can glean, that should wipe out the problem and bring you back into sync.
"But I do know a thing or two about temporal physics, Doctor, and I agree with the prognosis. Can we proceed immediately?
"Yes, we should stop the effects as soon as possible."
[END]

I've subjected Captain Dantara to a compressed stream of anyons as a treatment for his phase-sickness. Chroniton scans are now negative and his bloodwork comes back normal for the time being. I am still concerned about the potential for long term effects as a result of exposure to the Nemisis device and cannot guarantee he is "cured" of this problem permanently. I will be keeping an close watch on him for the next few days as this situation unfolds. Garza out.
