I think you're making wonderful progress, Sweetheart. We are very fortunate to have someone like McCoy with us.
Even iwth all I have to do, i still take a moment in my day to give my gratitude to the Gods.
A few weeks? ::He smiled:: It's great to hear to talk like that.
::He walked over to the closet.:: You know, I've been wearing a unform so much, I've given little thought to civilian clothing.
::He chose a grey kimono and some loosely fitting dark tousers, and sport shoes. Light and comfortable.::
Do you want to get anything to eat on the way?

::Shian sighed silently when Brock went to change clothing. She was so exhausted from everything today, but she didn't want her husband to know it or see it. He'd taken time off duty for her. He wanted to take her some place special. She wanted to spend this time with him.::
::When he turned to re-enter the main room, she sat up again. He'd not worn anything other than his Starfleet uniform since she'd arrived on the ship. It was nice to see him wearing something more relaxed now.::
::She wasn't wearing anything particularly special. She wore black capri pants with shoes that were akin to ballet slippers and a flowing blouse that was nice and light. These were clothing items that he had replicated for her just before she came to Polaris.::
::She thought about food, then answered.::
Something light. Maybe just some fruits, cheeses, and bread?
::She loved the mapa bread that she'd had before. It was some of the best she'd ever tasted. She paused for a moment.::
Unless you would prefer a bigger meal. I know you had a lot going on today. You probably need more protein and nourishment in general than I do.
::Then, Shian had an inspired thought. She decided to make the inquiry.::
Do you think that Mamasan could make some koganka pudding?
::She hadn't had any really good koganka pudding since she'd been on Deep Space Nine, but she loved the taste of it. It was almost as good as her mother's homemade banana pudding.::

::He straightened his kimono::
That sounds wonderful. I haven't had any of that in quite a while.
I assure you, mamasan won't have any trouble with that. The more you want her to do, the happier she is. I'm sure she'd love to make it for you.
And she's very concerned about you, as well. She told me how bad she feels about you're no being able to say goodbye to your Father. Filial Piety is very important in her traditions.
::He thought a moment::
I have a great idea. We'll go right to the Arboretum, and have ourselves a little picnic. What do you think?

::She tipped her head to the side a bit.::
You like koganka pudding? I never knew that.
::At least, she didn't think she ever knew it. What else didn't she know? She detested that some of her memories were still out of reach.::
::Her face fell slightly when Brock mentioned her father. But she knew he meant well, and that Mamasan had only the best intentions with her worry and fuss. Though she had no idea what filial piety was, she knew that if it was tradition for Mamasan, it was a very important part of her culture, and therefore, who she was.::
::She smiled to him.::
A picnic sounds nice, Brock. I'd like that. I'll let you choose the drinks.
::She had to push past the emotions she'd dredged up and shelve them for now. At least until she woke up tomorrow and had another opportunity to deal with them. The rest of this night was going to be for Brock and her, alone.::

::He smiled, and kissed her top of the head.:: I'm glad you agree.
Only how about you choose the drinks, Love. I've made enough decisions today. I'm leaving that up to you. You have better tase than I do, anyway. ::Laughs, as he takes her in his arm and they leave the quarters.::

::She knew better than to ask about his work, so she just smiled a little and clung to his arm. She might have felt better while in the company of her husband or the doctor, but she was still extremely wary of others.::
So, then, are you just going to order up our picnic once we get to the arboretum?
::She was rather hoping that the arboretum would be vacated for them, so that she didn't have to worry about other crewmembers staring at her or watching her. Maybe he'd already had the forethought and closed it off for the night.::
Well, if I am going to be the one to decide on drinks, then....
::She gave it a few seconds thought.::
...how about some Mareuvian tea and then some Enolian spice wine to go with the pudding?
::She walked with him down the corridor, headed towards the turbolift.::

When it comes to food and drink, My love, You are the Captain. ::Grins::
::They stepped out of the Turbolift and headed to the arboretum entrance.::
I doubt anyone is here with duty shifts going on, but just to warn you, Amir sometimes leaves his dog Spartacus in there. He's just a little Pug. One of those breeds that are so homely, they're cute. I doubt the Volanthi would like them. A Poodle or an Afghan, maybe
::He smiles as they head in. Brock took in the fresh clean sir. Not circulated air, but natural air, created with real plants. Chlorophyl and C02.
The arboretum was always rejuvinating for him. he hoped Shian found it the same way.::

::Shian and Brock materialized in their quarters, having beamed there from the arboretum. He was still holding her to him as they reappeared.::
::She kissed him lightly. Then she took the food basket from him and set it down on the table. Looking through it, she found what she was searching for. She pulled out the container of koganka pudding and set it out.::
Do you have time to have some of the pudding with me before you return to the bridge?
::It was amazing how renewed she felt. It was as if the trip to the arboretum was a cleansing for her. Somehow it seemed to clear away all the clouds of despair, fear, and trepidation she'd had surrounding her before. She hoped desperately that they would stay gone.::

::He held her for a few more moments until she asked about the pudding.::
Yes, I'd love some pudding, It sounds wonderful.
I'm really glad we did this. ::He kissed her:: I'm just going to go throw some water on my face. Then, I suppose I should pay my respects to the Ambassador.
I bet Scotty would love to see him. I don;t think He's run into McCoy yet. I wonder how that will go.
Mamasan prepared him some seaweed salad and some vegetable rolls, I hope the Ambassador likes it.

::She set about dishing up some of the koganka pudding while Brock took care of what he needed to do.::
::When he came out from washing up, she handed him a bowl with a spoon.::
You had Mamasan prepare Japanese-style food for the Ambassador? Does he like Japanese food?
::She took a spoonful of the pudding and was instantly amazed.::
Though she certainly does make this well. Mmmm. I haven't had this in so long. This is fabulous!
::She took a couple more spoonfuls.::
If she makes koganka this good, I wonder how she is at banana pudding. You have to try this, Brock.
::Another spoonful was soon gone.::
You'll have to let me know how that goes with the doctor. I sure like him. He's very charming.
Maybe he'll be happy to see Ambassador Spock.
::She finished her pudding and set the bowl down, content to watch her husband. She knew he'd have to leave soon.::

::He towel-dried his face.::
Well, I don't know if he likes Japanese food, but everything she's making is vegetarian. Vulcans have eaten it before.
Besides, I think He'll appreciate something hand made and native to another land.
::He came over to taste the pudding. She had a little of it on her lip. He leaned in and "tasted" it.:: MM very good pudding.
Maybe I'll have some more. And maybe I'll even use a spoon. ::He Grinned::

::Shian's face flushed. She wasn't sure if she was more embarrassed about there being pudding on her lip or the way he spoke to her. Either way, she felt that rush when he kissed it from her.::
I did give you your own bowl and spoon.
::But before he could move from her, she took his face gently in her hands, her eyes staring into his. She softly kissed him.::
Now, are you going to finish your pudding before you return to duty? I don't want to have to tell Mamasan that you didn't finish. She might be offended.
::She gave him a coy smile.::

::He took her warm kiss and reveled in it for a moment.::
That's better than any spoon. ::He smiled:: But we certainly to want to evoke the Wrath of Mamasan!
::He took his bowl and began to enjoy the putting, savoring each spoonful as he savored his time with Shian.::

::Shian showed a rather nostalgic smile as she chuckled then watched Brock dig into his pudding.::
Thank you for today. It was truly one of the best days I've had in a very long time.
I know you have to get back to the bridge, though. So, maybe I'll try and cook something for dinner.
::She had no idea where to start, but she could maybe make something out of whatever she could find.::

::He smiled at her words. It was wonderful that she was wanting to do more and more each day.::
I hope today will just be the beginning of many days like this.
ANd I'd love for you to cook. That would be great. As you know, I still keep a kitchen like I did on the Concord. I just haven;t used it much because it reminded me of those days.
I still remember The first time I made Sushi for you. That was a wonderful night.
::He stopped himself:: Forgive me for being nostalgic. I'd love to start using this kitchen again.
You have a list of foods in transporter stasis that you can bring out. anything else, just ask Mamsan to get it for you.
I'm looking forward to dinner. ::He kissed her again::

::Shian smiled at him, knowing full well that he had been remembering the time before. She gave a small sigh, thinking to herself that those had been much better times.::
::But this was their chance to do it over again. She'd realized just how lucky she was to have it.::
I can't promise you anything like Mamasan's cooking. But I'll try my best to make something you'll like.
::She looked over to the kitchen area.::
I'm sure I can find my way around in there.
::She smiled warmly to him as he kissed her and she kissed him back.::
I love you, Brock Dantara.

Sweetheart, I always liked your cooking. I'm sure whatever you make will be just fine.
And I love you too, Shian Taris Dantara.
::He kissed her one more time.:: I think you may have to Counsel the Dr a little. We had quite an adventure earlier.
::He smiled, and left the quarters.::

::She looked after him curiously as he left. The doctor? What adventure? Was that what the red alert was raised for? She wondered what kind of "adventure" the doctor could have had to cause Brock to put the ship on alert.::
::She let the door close and secured it. She felt so much better, yet she was so tired, nearly exhausted. She wanted to lay down and rest for a while before she started on something for dinner.::
::Shian went into the sleeping area of the quarters, dropped onto the bed and laid down. Just a couple of hours rest would make her feel more rejuvenated.::

Shian tossed and turned. Sleep had come so easily to her at first. Within moments of making herself comfortable, she was asleep.
But REM sleep came soon after, and with that came the dreams.
They were in bits and pieces at first. Children singing, her husband laughing, Mamasan presenting a plate of food to her.
Then, as she fell deeper yet into REM, they changed. A hooded figure was circling her, watching her from within the darkness. She was feeling trapped. Her heart rate increased, and her breathing became more intense and labored.
She looked for an escape, but every move she made, the figure seemed to block.
Brock was calling for help. She could see him, beyond the figure. He was blindfolded, his hands were bound. He was on his knees. A hand was holding him down by the shoulder.
Then, she heard Jax calling for help. And in another corner, he was blindfolded and bound in the same manner.
She turned to look in the next corner, and there was her father. And in the last corner, her mother.
This was the scenario. This is what the Imposters did to her. She hadn't been rescued at all. It was all a trick of the Imposters. They allowed her to feel like she was secure, safe.
But she wasn't safe at all. She was still here. Trapped and helpless.
In the bed, Shian kept thrashing about. She was in a sweat and she cried out, though there was no one there to hear it.
She kept trying to get past the hooded figure, trying to get to one of her loved ones. But she just wasn't quick enough. The fear was setting in worse and worse with every moment.
Then, she suddenly had a phaser in her hand. She raised it, intent on aiming at the hooded figure, but the hooded figure wasn't there. She was aiming it directly at Brock, her finger on the controls.
She smiled, removing the hood from her head, and pressed the firing trigger.
Shian sat bolt upright in the bed. She was wet with perspiration and breathing hard. She looked around, her head turning in all directions she could.
For a moment, she couldn't figure out where she was. Then, as she saw the gray kimono laying across the end of the bed, she realized exactly where she was. She was in her quarters on Polaris. Hers and Brock's quarters.
She tried to catch her breath. Getting up, she went to the replicator and got an ice cold glass of water. Taking several drinks, she tried calming herself.
She sat down in a chair, pulling her legs up so that her knees were to her chest. For some reason, though, she felt compelled to keep looking around the room, afraid of who else might be there.
She'd only been asleep for an hour and a half.

::Shian uncurled herself from the chair and leaned forward. She sighed, still looking around.::
Computer, bring all lights up to 80%.
::The computer sounded it's standard beep and the lights brightened in the quarters.::
::Looking around again, she checked every corner visually, discounting every shadow::
::She finally took one last drink of water and stood up, her legs shaking a little.::
::Taking a deep breath, she walked to the kitchen area and began searching the inventory for something she could make for dinner. She didn't have the heart for it at the moment, but she promised Brock she would make dinner. She was going to live up to that promise. Just as she would live up to vows that they'd taken when they got married.::
::As she stood there in the kitchen, her mind wandered, taking her back to their wedding. The Admiral that had arrived on Concord to do the ceremony, those fellow crew members that were in attendance, and the vows that both she and Brock had spoken.::
~~Brock Dantara: "Shian.....You're the nova that has beamed its light to me across the parsecs...The guiding star that has brought me across the heavens...and when I first saw you, I knew that you were the light that had beckoned to me for all those years. You are my beacon, my guide. Your soul touched me on the night sky over Stratos and pulled me into space. To find my home in the stars....in your arms. And there I will remain always" I, Brock Dantara, take you Shian Taris to be my wife, my partner in life and my one true love. I will cherish our union and love you more each day than I did the day before. I will trust you and respect you, laugh with you and cry with you, loving you faithfully through good times and bad, regardless of the obstacles we may face together. I give you my hand, my heart, and my love, from this day forward for as long as we both shall live.
Shian Taris: Brock, I want you to know how much you mean to me. You have come into my life and changed it. For the better. I want to be everything to you and for you. What we've already been through together is only the beginning. And I am looking forward to our future ventures, no matter what they may be. I, Shian Nynaeve Taris, take you, Brock Dantara, to be my husband, my partner in life, and my one true love. I will cherish our union and love you more each day than I did the day before. I will trust you and respect you, laugh with you and cry with you, loving you faithfully through good times and bad, regardless of the obstacles we may face together. I give you my heart, my love, and my soul, from this day forward, for as long as we both breathe.~~
::Tears had welled up in her eyes as she remembered their wedding. She had been so unprepared for it, even though she'd had plenty of time to come up with her vows. She chuckled to herself, knowing that it hadn't mattered in the least.::
::She smiled through her tears then set back to finding something to fix for dinner. Her heart felt much lighter now. It seemed that everytime she recalled her relationship with Brock, it helped to strengthen her from within.::
